Get to Know me

My name is Emilia Hamburg. I’m a dancer and choreographer with a versatile background in performance and creation. I found my love for the stage in the Moscow Ballet’s Nutcracker and continued performing in street fairs, halftime shows, and galas, staring in my first dance film, I Am Not Sorry, by the time I was in high school. As a dancer I have trained at the Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles under Joe Malone, Jillian Schmitiz, Michelle Elkin, and Irene Cho. I earned my BFA in Dance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where I trained under industry leaders like Sean Curran, Pamela Pietro, Jeremy Nelson, and Giada Matteini. My technical foundation spans Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, West African, and Belly Dance. Performance highlights include repertory from Gallim, Doug Varone, Gibney, David Dorfman, Sean Curran Co., Sasha Waltz, and Ronald K. Brown/Evidence, as well as original works by Annie Rigney and other NYC and LA-based artists. I have performed with Sahlala Dance Company in weekly shows and worked have worked professionally with choreographer Emily Lavengood on many jobs, specifically the music video Burn by Dakota. As a choreographer, I’ve created and presented works such as The Me in Me (a VR dance film), From Vilnius to Manhattan, 2 Sides of 1 Mind, Where Are We?, 11/18, and MeTanoia (presented at Arts on Site), An Unseen Village, and A Shadow of the Mind.
